NVQ and Blue Card questions

How much does an NVQ assessment cost?

Costs are shown on our training pages for courses held at our Tewkesbury site only.

Prices for on-site assessment may be different, so contact us for an accurate quotation.

Group bookings may be cheaper.

How long does excavator training take?

Excavator training can take up to 10 days.

At Vally Plant Training, we deliver one-to-one 360 Excavator Training over five days so the candidate receives dedicated practical time on the machine.

This is the training course; an NVQ is a workplace competence assessment and is a different route.

Can training be delivered at our site?

Yes, suitable plant training can be delivered at a customer site throughout the UK, subject to suitable machinery, documents, safe training areas and course requirements.

Do I need previous experience?

NVQ workplace assessment is intended for experienced operators who are already performing the relevant role.

Novice training is available separately for people new to operating plant.

Which is better, NPORS or CPCS?

The choice depends on employer, site and project requirements.

Confirm which operator scheme is accepted for the work you intend to carry out; Vally Plant Training provides NPORS training.

What is the difference between NPORS and CPCS?

They are separate operator schemes with their own training, card and assessment arrangements.

Both may offer CSCS-logoed card routes, subject to each scheme’s requirements.

Check your employer or principal contractor’s requirements before booking.
